Chiang Mai

Getting to Chiang Mai was easy, a flight to Bangkok with an overnight stay at the airport and then a 10.00 am flight on Bangkok Airways. Bangkok airways is a full service airline with free club lounge access for its passengers. The service provided is fairly basic, but nonetheless it’s better than some other airlines provide. Once we reached Chiang Mai, it was a short taxi ride to the hotel (fixed price THB120).

We arrived at The Chedi hotel and immediately we were both impressed, however we did have to wait a short while to be checked in. The room is modern, spacious and well equipped with all the mod cons, including an Nespresso coffee machine. Our room over looks the pool and the river which was a nice bonus.

We found this really cool little place next to our hotel called Pum’s cooking school and restaurant. It less than $10 for both of us including drinks.

The night market wasn’t as busy as we thought, there were a few people around, but since this time of the year is considered high season, I’m not sure where they all are. We found a unique place on the street for dinner where we both enjoyed BBQ prawns and crab fried rice as well as seafood tempura for less than $30.

The bed was quite comfortable and had a good night sleep apart from the frogs outside, they make a horrible noise, but managed to wrap the pillow around my ears which drowned the sound out.

Breakfast was served in the restaurant by the river in which you order from the menu. The have some interesting things for breakfast which is of the highest quality.
